Security 2010

The Shifting Landscape: Changing Mind-Sets

The Security Professionals Conference connects information security professionals, security analysts and engineers, IT staff, C-level executives, and others from across the higher education community. It is the premier forum for strengthening the ability of the higher education sector to protect information assets from the changing threat vectors and respond to the ever-increasing compliance requirements imposed on the higher education community. The Security 2010 conference, "The Shifting Landscape: Changing Mind-Sets," will focus on security topics that span the information assurance measures of people, process, and technology. The Higher Education Information Security Council (formerly the Security Task Force) welcomes and encourages your participation at the Eighth Annual Security Professionals Conference, sponsored by EDUCAUSE and Internet2, April 12–14, 2010. Please join us at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.

Preconference seminars begin the morning of Monday, April 12, with the full conference program April 13–14, 2010. The program tracks will fall under the broad categories of Technology Solutions or Management, Operations, and Policy; the sessions offered will range from introductory to advanced.

This year's conference program will take a more active approach in showing attendees the linkages between the presentations and how they correspond to The Effective IT Security Practices and Solutions Guide. The organization of the guide by chapters suggests a framework within which institutions might align their security strategies. The primary goal of the guide is to encourage community sharing of policies, standards, and practices that have been tailored for the higher education community. The guide is designed to help jump-start your institution's security program or refine an existing program, and provide an opportunity to share your institutions experiences.
