Mike Griffith is an instructional technologist and English professor at Tulane University. His background is in cultural studies, with a focus in the impact of technology on culture and pedagogy.
Derek W. Toten is a new media and traditional media production professional in New Orleans. As director of instructional media and learning spaces at Tulane University, Toten manages the design, deployment, and support of technology classrooms and public computing areas on campus, including student media production labs. A 1987 graduate of Tulane, he produced regional and national television programming for several years before returning to work for his alma mater. He is a past president of CCUMC, the Consortium of College and University Media Centers, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in new media studies. SummaryYour host, Steve Worona, will be joined by Mike Griffith and Derek Toten, and the topic will be "Building Digital Discourse: Telling Academic Stories." In this presentation, we will recount the institutional and pedagogical processes of deploying a Digital Narrative pilot program at Tulane University.
