Veronica Diaz is the Instructional Technology Manager at the Maricopa Community Colleges District Office, Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction (MCLI). In that capacity, she works with faculty professional development and growth and leads various programs that promote the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Previously, Diaz served as the Learning Technologies Manager for the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, responsible for the college’s teaching and learning initiatives. She was principal investigator of the HP Technology for Teaching Grant and was responsible for the Eller Tablet PC Initiative. She also served as adjunct professor at the University of Arizona, where she taught The Target Market and Distribution Channels, Market Planning, and The Organization and Employment Environment (at the undergraduate level) and Technology in Teaching (at the graduate level). Active in the field of e-learning and teaching innovation, Diaz is the chair of the EDUCAUSE Advisory Committee on Teaching and Learning and has presented seminars on faculty use of instructional technology and intellectual property policies for distributed learning environments. Diaz has served on various information and learning technology advisory and steering committees that advise on information technology policy, purchasing, strategic alliances (document management, desktop computing, cellular technologies), the network master plan, and the wireless network. Diaz is also a field reader for the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education, Higher Education Programs, where she reviews grants for GEAR UP, Title III, TRIO Student Support Services, and the Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program.
Rochelle (Shelley) Rodrigo is an English Department faculty member and the faculty professional development coordinator for Mesa Community College in Arizona. She also has served as the college's instructional technologist and is developing a writing certificate program. Rodrigo's scholarly pursuits generally explore interactions between humanities and technology. She has been invited to speak about teaching and technology at both local and national venues. As well as co-authoring The Wadsworth Guide to Research, Rodrigo was co-editor of Rhetorically Rethinking Usability (Hampton Press, forthcoming). Her scholarly work has appeared in Computers & Composition, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, Journal of Advancing Technology, and Flow, as well as various edited collections. She has presented at institutional, local, national, disciplinary, and interdisciplinary workshops about technology and writing, including: "How to examine the Virtual: Assessing and Evaluating Online Teaching and Learning," "Designs of Distance Education: Assessing Approaches to Web-Based Writing Courses," and "Experimental Classroom Orientation." In 2004, she was awarded the American Association for Higher Education's Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award. Rodrigo serves on the National Council of Teachers of English College Section Nominating Committee and is secretary for the Science Fiction Research Association.
