MANAGING NEW INTERNET TOOLS

Moderators: Skip Brand, Arizona State University and 
            Fred Holtzman, UT-Knoxville

Higher Education has proven to be a leader in developing new 
Internet tools. Information technologists, librarians, and 
information providers are mastering the art of managing the 
deployment of these tools to a highly autonomous academic 
constituency (which has been likened to "herding cats") to 
make them a real value to the campus. There are many 
management issues involved in "strategically" using new tools 
such as Gopher, World Wide Web, Mosaic, WAIS, and so forth. 
Participants in this session will discuss these management 
issues, as well as share their own campus experiences and 
perspectives with new Internet tools.
