Forum Futures 2001

Forum Futures 2001 is a collection of summaries of the papers presented and discussed at the Forum's 2000 Aspen Symposium. The wide-ranging papers explore topics such as balancing the role of market forces and public purpose in higher education, closing the income gap in college enrollment, and the contribution of new learning media to the basic educational mission of colleges and universities. Scholars include James Duderstadt, who shares his thoughts on leading the university during an era of rapid change; Gordon Winston, who looks at the positional arms race in higher education; and Neil Gershenfeld, whose vision of ubiquitous computing is predicated on smarter technology that renders it invisible.
