EDUCAUSE Awards

Each year, EDUCAUSE recognizes outstanding contributions in the use of information technology to support and advance higher education. Its six award programs identify exemplary achievement in key areas of activity; this year, five of them have named recipients. At today’s general session, the award winners will be honored, and throughout the day they will describe their work in track and poster sessions (follow the links below for more information).

Tonight: Wild West Fest!

Tonight, let out the cowpoke in you! The Wild West Fest is a Rocky Mountain rodeo and more, including the Westernaires precision horse riding team, trick riders, and barrel racing. If music and dancing are more your thing, you can listen to honky-tonk piano and learn how to line dance to country-and-western music. Or, test your skills and try your luck at the Old West gambling casino. Whatever your fancy, the Wild West Fest is a great opportunity to get to know other participants, have some fun, and enjoy food and drink.

You will need your royal blue name badge holder for admittance to this event. If you have any other color name badge holder or wish to purchase additional tickets, guest tickets are available at the registration desk. Shuttle service will be provided for all conference hotels. Please refer to the shuttle schedule you received in your tote bag for details.

• Leaving Denver directly from the convention center tomorrow? A coat and baggage check service will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Lobby A ($2.00 per item checked).
• Digital recordings of yesterday’s general session with James Duderstadt and select featured speaker sessions will be available online by the end of the day today, accessible from the EDUCAUSE 2004 Web site. All general and featured speakers sessions will be available on the EDUCAUSE Web site shortly after the conference. Sponsored by Sonic Foundry.
• Audio recordings of most conference sessions can be ordered for purchase in cassette-tape or CD format. Visit the Conference Media Contractors table in the registration area for more information.
• Would you like an opportunity to meet with other attendees to discuss a particular higher education IT issue? Check out the Birds-of-a-Feather session bulletin board in the registration area to organize and sign up for such meetings, which will be held during lunch today in the exhibit hall.
