CAMP Identity Management Workshop 2004

 CAMP Identity Management Workshop 2004

November 15-17, 2004
San Diego, California

A key component of security plans is well-managed access to services that protect online resources and user privacy while enabling ease of use. Centralizing the management of user identity and related information not only reduces the staff required to manage appropriate access but also allows better service through provisioning (automatic granting or revoking) of services.

The CAMP Identity Management Workshop presents the first step campuses should take to support provisioning of services. Modeled after the Enterprise Directory Implementation Roadmap, this workshop will review the requirements, design, data, and implementation steps involved in setting up Identity Management infrastructure. Participants will leave with a CD of tools, documents, and related materials.

The program features both management and technical tracks with topics such as:

  • resource planning
  • campus buy-in and business case strategies
  • intercampus resource sharing and identity management systems
  • directory architectures and person registries
  • technical deployment and operational issues
  • small or resource-lean school strategies

Tailored to two key campus IT figures—the CIO/director and the technology architect—CAMP Identity Management Workshop offers CIOs a highly focused forum for learning and discussion on management and policy, and another forum for architects on implementation and technology. To maximize program value, event organizers recommend that each institution send the two individuals that best match the CIO and architect roles.

To learn about the next step in middleware deployment, review the program for CAMP Enterprise Authentication beginning Thursday, November 18, immediately following CAMP Identity Management.

A note to previous CAMP Directory Workshop attendees: This workshop will, for the most part, repeat the directory workshop and preconference seminar held in Tempe in February 2004. The primary differences include updates on current practices, additional case studies, and a new CD of materials. If you attended that workshop and are moving along in your deployment, you may not need to attend this meeting.

CAMP is sponsored by the National Science Foundation Middleware Initiative-Enterprise and Desktop Integration Technologies (NMI-EDIT) Consortium: EDUCAUSE, Internet2, and SURA, Additional support was provided by the National Science Foundation Cooperative Agreement NSF-02-028, ANI-012937.
