Balancing Second Life and Instructional Technology SupportSession DetailsWednesday, February 25, 2009 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Hidalgo Ballroom C Session Type: Act 3: Balancing Learning 2.x Speaker(s)
AbstractVirtual worlds currently present unresolved issues for faculty. Are they good for instruction? If so, what type and level of learning occurs and under what conditions? For whom are virtual worlds effective? Many faculty are unwilling to take the leap into virtual worlds. Questions have focused around the management of virtual world programs including governance, organization, staffing, skill development, equipment, and cost. While there are many different virtual worlds, Second Life is the most developed. Bobcat Village has hosted four classes and a like number of research projects in Second Life. |
