Abstract

An easy form of Internet publishing, blogs have become an established communications tool for capturing and sharing ideas, opinions, and reflections through text, hyperlinks, images, and/or multimedia. But where do blogs fit in the contemporary course? What kinds of instructional problems could they solve? How can we use this tool of the read/write web to support active learning? During this interactive session, we will discuss where blogs fit in the teaching and learning landscape and explore instructional strategies where students learn to develop voice, formulate opinions, and stand by them in this open, participatory, and collaborative space. In addition to assessing project implementation, we will also examine strategies for measuring the impact of blogs on learning.
