Youth, Technology, and PrivacySession DetailsWednesday, January 24, 2007 10:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. International Ballroom D-F Session Type: General Session Speaker(s)
AbstractDo you have little expectations of privacy, or ones that are different from the current generation of higher education faculty, staff, and administrators? If the expectations are different, is there a meaningful distinction between developmental or generational differences? To the degree that expectations might be generational, what do the expectations of today’s youth auger for cultural and legal definitions of privacy in the 21st century? This session will explore some of these questions through a discussion of social networking technologies and will include interviews with traditional-age college students on their thoughts, aspirations, and expectations of privacy as they come of age and explore young adult identities in American colleges and universities. |
