Session Type: Preconference Seminar
Speaker(s)AbstractPodcasting can enhance teaching and learning through mobile, flexible, and easy-to-use audio (and visual) technology, but where does it fit in the contemporary classroom? In selecting podcasts as a learning technology, it is important to address questions focused on podcasting’s position across the AV technology spectrum and how it relates to other technologies in terms of mobility, platform neutrality, instructional flexibility, and accessibility. During this interactive session, we will discuss where podcasts fit in the teaching and learning landscape, determine institutional differentiators, explore podcasting’s evolving educational uses, and learn how to make the case for podcasting on your campus. Instead of focusing on how to create a podcast, participants will identify podcast attributes, map podcasts across the AV technology spectrum, and correlate podcasting and instructional strategy to degree of learner engagement.
