Who Should Attend? The Executive Leadership Seminar offers senior IT leaders, academic executives, library directors, presidents, and others an opportunity to collaboratively explore the opportunities and resolve the challenges currently facing higher education IT. Participants are encouraged to attend this year's Directors Leadership Seminar immediately following the Executive Leadership Seminar. ApproachThe past few years have been difficult ones for higher education and for campus IT departments. Shrinking budgets and expanding needs have forced IT leadership either to think and act strategically or to see years of progress swept away as services decline and faculty lose confidence in the IT organization's ability to deliver. The theme of this year's SAC seminars is "Expanding the Vision: Connecting Information to Innovation." This year's Executive Leadership Seminar brings several different perspectives to this challenge, which will be addressed by a faculty with roles such as president, library dean, vice president for research, CIO and chief financial officer. Participants will engage these faculty in debate and dialogue leading to a small-group problem-solving exercise designed to identify practical strategies to employ at home institutions. The Executive Leadership Seminar focuses on ways that the leadership of the IT unit can provide leadership across the institution, strategically positioning IT within the campus infrastructure and operations so that it is recognized and resourced as an enabler of critical institutional goals with respect to teaching, learning, research, and service. Preconference RequestsBefore the seminar, participants will be contacted by e-mail and asked to respond to a set of questions regarding issues at their institutions and their expectations for the seminar. The answers will be sent to the program chairs and speakers to assist them with final agenda session planning. Executive Leadership Seminar ChairsNorma Brenner Holland Amelia A.
