CAMP Shibboleth 2.0: Hands-on Technical WorkshopMay 1315, 2008
Michigan Information Technology Center, Ann Arbor, MI Planning to deploy a web single sign-on (SSO) system and leveraging it to access resources supported by your institution as well as contracted services? Need training on installation and support? Shibboleth is being deployed nationally and internationally as a web SSO system to access services hosted both on and off campus. The software leverages institutional identity and access management infrastructures to authenticate individuals and then sends their approved identity information to the local or remote service site for authorization. Many campuses are asking what value they derive from deploying separate intra- and intercampus SSO systems when Shibboleth supports the functions of both. The CAMP Shibboleth 2.0: Hands-on Technical Workshop will complement the June 2007 Shibboleth CAMP by providing attendees with technical installation and configuration experience with Shibboleth version 2.0. The sessions are organized around the installation of the three phases of Shibboleth deployment:
Developed for campuses new to Shibboleth and those with existing implementations interested in upgrading to the 2.0 release, the workshop will offer attendees the chance to:
Knowledge of identity management concepts and related implementation experience is strongly recommended. Institutions are encouraged to send up to two attendees who best represent the following functions:
IMPORTANT! Participants will be installing Shibboleth in a virtual machine (VM) environment on their own machines. To accommodate the requirements of the VM, attendees must bring a laptop with the following configuration. Hardware
